Bharat Brand Scheme Phase II Launched: Discover the Benefits for Consumers and Farmers

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi on Tuesday launched the second phase of the 'Bharat' Brand Scheme’. The program was organized at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi. The minister said that this initiative aims to provide quality rice and flour to consumers at cheap rates. This scheme was launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and now its second phase has started.

What is the 'Bharat' Brand Scheme?

The Government of India had planned to provide rice and flour at affordable rates under the 'Bharat' brand last year. Under this, consumers will get rice at the rate of Rs 34 per kg and flour at the rate of Rs 30 per kg. This step is especially beneficial for those who are deprived of cheap flour and rice due to high rates.

Aim of the scheme

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, while talking to the media about this scheme, said that this initiative has been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to increase the food affordability of consumers. He also informed that under this scheme, the distribution of flour and rice will be done at both retail and wholesale levels. It will be ensured that any consumer can take advantage of these affordable prices.

Free ration

The Union Minister also informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), the government is giving free ration to 81.3 crore beneficiaries, which includes rice and wheat. Apart from this, the government is also doing good to the farmers by buying wheat and rice from them at MSP (minimum support price). The minister also informed that the minimum price of rice in the market is Rs 43 per kg, but under the Bharat brand, this rice will be available at the rate of Rs 34 per kg.

Farmers benefit

With this initiative of the government, not only will consumers get ration at affordable rates, but farmers will also get a fair price for their produce. This scheme will improve food security and provide relief to poor families.
