Six Killed as Helicopter Crashes into Hudson River in New York City

A helicopter crashed into the Hudson River around Pier 40 in Manhattan, New York City, on Thursday afternoon, killing all six people on board, said New York City Mayor Eric Adams at a press conference.
Included were one pilot, two adults and three children, according to Jessica Tisch, commissioner of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). She said four people were announced deceased on the scene, and another two didn't survive at the hospital.
It's reported that the five passengers were tourists from Spain.
The helicopter lost control shortly after turning at the George Washington Bridge to move along the New Jersey shoreline, and an investigation is underway for the cause of the crash, according to Tisch.
The chopper, a Bell 206, a model widely used in commercial and government aviation, split into two before it went down around 3:15 p.m. local time, local media reported.
This is the deadliest helicopter crash in the New York City area since 2018.
US President Donald Trump said the transportation secretary is investigating the helicopter crash near New York and the cause will be revealed promptly.
