Serial blasts on Tuesday in Lebanon's capital Beirut caused screams on the streets. There were a series of explosions in pagers and electronic gadgets used for communication like phones. More than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters, common people and doctors, were injured. The explosions in the pagers caused a stampede in the city.

Iran's Mehr news agency reported that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani was also injured in the explosion. Three security sources said that the exploded pagers were of the latest model brought by Hezbollah in recent months.

After the serial blasts, ambulances were seen running in the southern areas of Beirut, which is the stronghold of Hezbollah. There is an atmosphere of panic after the blasts. A security source said that many pagers have exploded in the southern part of Lebanon.

People injured in the series of blasts were seen screaming in pain. There is an atmosphere of chaos in the streets and markets. Relatives were seen taking the injured to hospitals on motorcycles and cars.

Hassan Wazni, head of Nabatiyeh Public Hospital in the southern part of the country, told news agency Reuters that about 40 injured are being treated in his hospital. The injured are bleeding from their faces, eyes and hands and feet.
