Maryam Nawaz: From Controversial Figure to First Female Chief Minister of Punjab

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, born on October 28, 1973, in Lahore, Pakistan, embodies the legacy of a political dynasty. Her father, Nawaz Sharif, served as Prime Minister of Pakistan three times, and her maternal grandfather, Mian Muhammad Sharif, was also a prominent politician. This deeply ingrained political background undoubtedly shaped Maryam's life and instilled in her an understanding of the workings of government and the potential for a future in politics.

Maryam's early education began at the prestigious Convent of Jesus and Mary in Lahore. Despite the demands of her political career, Maryam prioritizes her family life and is known for her dedication to her husband and children, striking a balance between personal and professional commitments.

While initially involved in her family's philanthropic endeavors, it was in 2012 that Maryam officially entered the political arena. She assumed a leadership role within her father's party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Though not holding any official office, she actively campaigned for the party and became a vocal critic of the then-government, showcasing her political acumen and charisma.
