At Last, Hezbollah Confirms Death of Leader Hassan Nasrallah in Israeli Airstrike
Israel's Targeted Strike in Beirut Kills Hezbollah Chief; Group Vows Continued Resistance
Lebanon's Hezbollah confirmed on Saturday (September 29) that its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Hezbollah also vowed to continue the fight against Israel. The announcement came shortly after the French Foreign Ministry said that according to its information, Nasrallah had died.
The French Foreign Ministry said, 'The safety and protection of citizens, including French citizens in the region, must be guaranteed, which is our priority.' The statement comes after Israel claimed that it had killed the Hezbollah chief in an attack in the southern suburbs of Beirut a day earlier.
Who was Hassan Nasrallah?
Nasrallah's death is a major blow to Hezbollah and its regional ally Iran. The slain Hezbollah leader was an important figure in the Tehran-backed Axis of Resistance, which played a key role in increasing Iranian influence in the Middle East. Hassan Nasrallah established Hezbollah as a political and military organization under his leadership, which played an important role in Lebanon's political scene. At the age of 15, Nasrallah decided to become a member of the Amal movement in Lebanon. At the age of 16, he arrived in Iraq and lived there for two years.
The Israeli army said it had killed Nasrallah in a targeted attack on Hezbollah's underground headquarters under a residential building in the Hezbollah-controlled suburb of Dahiyah in southern Beirut. Ali Karaki, a senior Hezbollah leader, and several other commanders were reportedly killed in the attack. Let us tell you that on Friday evening, a video went viral on social media, showing that the Israeli army attacked Hezbollah's central headquarters in Beirut, where a large number of buildings were destroyed by several massive explosions one after the other. The Israeli army also attacked Hezbollah's main headquarters.
