JNV Samastipur Duo Crowned Champions at Bihar's First-Ever State-Level Sports Quiz Contest
Zaifi Javed and Deepankar Outshine 25 Teams in Mukhyamantri Khel Gyanotsav Grand Finale as Event Draws Interest from Union Sports Ministry;

The much-anticipated Grand Finale of the Mukhyamantri Khel Gyanotsav 2025—India’s first-ever state-level sports quiz contest for school students—was successfully held on Thursday at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna. In a gripping culmination of wit, strategy, and sporting knowledge, the event witnessed a dazzling display of intellect as students from across Bihar locked horns in the state’s first-ever sports quiz championship.
The spotlight shone brightest on ZaifiJaved and Deepankar from JNV Samastipur, who emerged victorious, lifting the trophy amid thunderous applause and cheers.
With lightning-fast answers, razor-sharp presence of mind, and unshakable composure, the duo from Samastipur outpaced 25 other top teams from across the nine divisions of the state. Their journey to the top was not just a win, but a moment of pride and inspiration—proving that talent knows no boundaries when guided by passion and preparation.
As the auditorium erupted in celebration, it wasn’t just about winning a trophy—it was about making history in a contest that has set a new benchmark in India’s educational and sports narrative.
The contest concluded with the top three positions awarded to the following teams:
• First Prize: ZaifiJaved and Deepankar (JNV Samastipur)
• Second Prize: Ambar Sinha and IshaBhusha (St. Karen’s School, Patna)
• Third Prize: NyashaShrivastava and Rishav Kumar (Cinderella English School, Darbhanga)
Renowned sports commentator and host Aniket Mishra conducted the quiz with trademark flair, ensuring an engaging and high-octane contest for participants and audience alike.
The Grand Finale was graced by several distinguished guests: Mr, Vivek Singh, IAS, Chairman, RERA Bihar – Chief Guest & Chief Mentor of Extra-C, Mr. RaveendraSankaran, IPS, Director General, BSSA, Mr. Sanjay Sinha, IAS (Retd.), Consultant, BSSAand Mr. Rajnarayan Singh, Coordinator, MKG 2025
Chief Guest Shri Vivek Singh, IAS, lauded the spirit and scale of the event. He said,“I heartily congratulate the BSSA team for their path-breaking initiative. Under their dynamic leadership, Bihar has successfully hosted major sports events such as the Asian Hockey Championship, SepakTakraw World Cup 2025, and now the Khelo India Games.” He said. “what touched me the most was the brilliance displayed by students from remote areas of Bihar. Their performance filled my heart with pride. Bihar will soon showcase its immense talent to the entire world.”
In his keynote address, Shri RaveendraSankaran, IPS, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), highlighted the uniqueness of the event. He said, “Mukhyamantri Khel Gyanotsav 2025 is the first-ever sports quiz contest organised at the state level in the country. Bihar is proud to achieve this milestone.” He highlighted, “The Union Sports Ministry has already expressed interest in the detailed SOP of this contest. This initiative is set to become the blueprint for similar events across the nation.”
The Mukhyamantri Khel Gyanotsav not only tested the sporting IQ of school students but also served as a vibrant platform to promote sports culture and awareness in Bihar’s academic landscape. 1.16 lakh students from across Bihar participated in the contest.
The event was jointly coordinated by BSSA and knowledge partner Extra-C, with dedicated support from volunteers and educationists across the state.
