India's Para-Athletes Shine at Paris Paralympics 2024

In Paris Paralympics 2024, India's daughters are raising the flag of success. Some are aiming without hands, while some are aiming directly at the gold while sitting on a wheelchair. The spirit and courage of these players is so high that everyone can take inspiration from them. Instead of losing to difficulties, these daughters fought and today are increasing the pride of the country all over the world.

First of all, let's talk about Avni Lakhera. Avni repeated the success of Tokyo Paralympics in Paris as well. She put the first gold medal in India's bag in Paris Paralympics. This is her second consecutive gold medal. Avni's success is no less than an inspiration for every person. Avni was also like any common man. But, at the age of 11, a road accident changed her life completely.

While laughing and playing, Avni suffered a severe injury to her spine. After this, she became paralyzed below the waist. Despite this, she did not lose courage and tried her hand at shooting and today created history by winning a gold medal for India in Paris.

In the same event in which Avni Lakhera won the gold medal in Paris Paralympics, another daughter of Rajasthan, Mona Agarwal, bagged the bronze medal. This is Mona's first Paralympics. But, she proved her ability by winning a medal in her debut Paralympics itself. Mona's life has not been easy either. Mona won the bronze medal in the women's 10 meter air rifle event (SH1).

She reached the Paralympics at the age of 36. She is the mother of two children. Mona was not even a year old when she was affected by polio. She had polio in both her legs. But, this difficulty could not stop her path and she reached here while fulfilling her responsibilities.

Like Avni and Mona, Preeti Pal has also won a medal for the country in the Paris Paralympics. She won India's first medal in the track and field event of these games. Preeti comes from Uttar Pradesh. She was physically weak since birth. Due to weak and abnormal legs, she had to face many problems since childhood. She even had to wear calipers at the age of 6. Despite this, she did not give up and became a para athlete and wrote a new story of success in the Paris Paralympics.

Sheetal Devi does not have hands and she does archery with her feet. She has been without both hands since birth. She is the first and only active female archer in the world to compete without hands. She broke the world record in the qualification round of the Paris Paralympics. She won 2 gold medals in the 2024 Asian Para Games.
