Gaurav Yatra Welcomes Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 to Siwan

The prestigious trophy for the upcoming Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 Hockey Tournament, scheduled for November 11-20 in Rajgir, was greeted with grand fanfare in Siwan as part of the Trophy Gaurav Yatra. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Siwan led the ceremonial welcoming of the trophy, with Scout and Guide children showering flowers and playing a festive band to mark the occasion at Rajendra Stadium.

The event, organized by the Bihar State Sports Authority in collaboration with Hockey India, celebrated the trophy's arrival on the historic land of Siwan. District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police lifted the trophy as a gesture of pride and unity, setting the tone for an energized countdown to the tournament.

Honoring the Legacy of Sports in Bihar

District Sports Officer Upendra Kumar Yadav marked the occasion by presenting symbolic hockey mementos and a special mascot doll provided by the Bihar State Sports Authority to the assembled dignitaries, including the District Magistrate, the Superintendent of Police, and other local officials. A vibrant display of songs and dances from local school children added to the festive atmosphere, making the event a memorable prelude to the tournament in Rajgir.

In his address, the District Magistrate underscored the significance of hosting such an international event, highlighting that it brings fresh inspiration to Bihar’s sports community. “This event will instill new energy in thousands of Bihar’s players and encourage them to excel on international platforms,” he stated.

Government's Commitment to Boosting Sports Infrastructure

The District Magistrate also lauded the Bihar government's dedication to sports, referencing the recent “Medal Lao Naukari Pao” initiative that incentivizes athletic achievement with job opportunities. He announced ambitious infrastructure developments, including the construction of sports facilities across all 283 panchayats of Siwan within the next few months. These facilities will feature courts and tracks for basketball, volleyball, long jump, high jump, badminton, and more, creating accessible opportunities for youth to nurture their talents.

“Bihar’s commitment to sports is unwavering. Through district-level competitions, talented players from rural areas are stepping forward, showcasing their abilities and advancing to state-level contests,” he said, emphasizing the government’s aim to support and spotlight local talents.

As the trophy continues its journey, it is expected to inspire thousands of aspiring athletes across Bihar. “This Yatra is more than a procession; it’s a symbol of encouragement for every young player in Bihar. As a symbolic gesture of unity and sportsmanship, the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, and other officials joined the women’s hockey team in a friendly ball-passing event, inspiring the athletes with their show of solidarity. The event saw enthusiastic support from local leaders, including the District Council President, Municipal Council President, and Honorable Legislative Councilor of Saran Graduate Area, Professor Dr. Virendra Narayan Yadav.

The schedule of Asia Cup Women Hockey Tournament is as follows-

In the tournament, matches will be played between Japan vs South Korea on 11th November at 3:00 pm, China vs Thailand from 5:15 pm, India vs Malaysia from 7:30 pm.

Thailand vs Japan on 12th November at 3:00 pm, China vs Malaysia from 5:15 pm, India vs South Korea from 7:30 pm.

South Korea vs Malaysia on 14th November at 3:00 pm, Japan vs Thailand from 5:15 pm, India vs China from 7:30 pm.

Thailand vs Japan on 16th November at 3:00 pm, China vs Malaysia from 5:15 pm, India vs South Korea from 7:30 pm.

On 17 November, Malaysia vs Thailand will be played at 3:00 pm, China vs South Korea at 5:15 pm and Japan vs India at 7:30 pm.

On 19 November, 5th/6th place competition will be played at 3:00 pm, 1st semi-final will be played at 5:15 pm and 2nd semi-final will be played at 7:30 pm.

On 20 November, 3rd/4th place competition will be played at 5:00 pm and the final match will be played at 7:30 pm.
