The Delhi Police once again hosted the annual G-Murali Cricket Cup in a display of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Organized in memory of the late journalist Sh. G. Murali of The Patriot, who passed away tragically during an expedition in 1981, the tournament serves a dual purpose: to honor his memory and to foster a stronger bond between Delhi Police personnel and media representatives.
Carrying forward this cherished tradition, the G-Murali Cricket Cup 2024 was held on April 21st, 2024, at the Sports Complex in New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp. The atmosphere crackled with friendly competition as teams from the Delhi Police Officers and Media XI battled it out on the pitch.
Adding a special touch to the event, the Chief Guest, Sh. Sanjay Arora (IPS), Commissioner of Police, Delhi, himself participated in the match. His presence not only bolstered the morale of both teams but also underlined the commitment of the Delhi Police leadership towards this initiative.
The enthralling match culminated in a thrilling victory for the Delhi Police Officers-XI. However, the true spirit of the tournament lay in the camaraderie and sportsmanship displayed by both teams. The event concluded with thunderous applause and a unanimous agreement to continue this tradition in the years to come.
This annual cricket cup serves as a powerful symbol of the strong relationship between the Delhi Police and the media. By participating in such events, both parties can work together to create a safer and more informed community.
