Bihar Boosts Sports Development with Enhanced Facilities and Annual Sports Honors Under CM Nitish Kumar's Leadership
State government awards Rs 7.5 crore at Bihar Sports Honors to celebrate achievements and elevate sports culture, supporting athletes through 'Medal Lao-Naukri Pao' scheme and expanded infrastructure.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, the state government is making efforts at every level for the development of sports in Bihar. To promote sports, sports facilities are being developed in the state as per international standards so that the children of Bihar can make their future in sports along with studies and bring glory to the state at the international level.
Along with this, the state government organizes Bihar State Sports Award Ceremony every year to honor the international, national and local level players of Bihar and their coaches who have performed excellently in sports. In this ceremony, players are given certificates and prize money. Apart from this, people who have made a significant contribution in the development of sports are also honored.
There has been a significant increase in the number of players who have brought glory to Bihar in national and international level competitions in sports. For this reason, the state government has increased the honor amount to Rs 5 crore. Ashutosh, who teaches javelin throw in Jamui, is the only coach to be honored with the Khel Samman. Coach Ashutosh has been training promising athletes of javelin throw competition under the aegis of the State Sports Authority for the past several years. He himself has won gold medals for Bihar in javelin throw competition several times at the national level. Virendra Yadav has been honored for winning gold for Bihar at the national level in javelin throw and Ashish Kumar for winning gold in threat throw. Bihar is the first state to call and honor Sreejesh after he won a medal in the Olympics. His coming to Bihar has greatly boosted the morale of the players here. Sreejesh is not only known as the best goalkeeper of Indian hockey but also as a wall. A total of 644 people including 615 players of 33 sports, 21 coaches, 4 sports associations and 4 sports officials have been honored in the Bihar Sports Honors ceremony. Honors worth about Rs 7.5 crore have been distributed among them.
In the year 2023, a total of 411 players including 11 coaches were honored in this ceremony. So far, honorarium of Rs 15.5 crore has been distributed among 1272 outstanding players. The state government is fully committed to elevate sports and players in Bihar and positive efforts are being made for this. After the excellent performance of the players, they are encouraged by the state government by awarding them with Bihar State Sports Award. On one hand, players are being given jobs under the Medal Lao-Naukri Pao Yojana, while on the other hand, their better future is being created by giving honorarium to the players.
