BCCI Announces 2024-25 Central Contracts with Rishabh Pant Promoted to Grade A

After a long wait, the BCCI has released the central contract list for 2025. As usual, the players have been divided into A+, A, B and C categories. A total of 34 players have been included in the central contract. Last time 30 players were included in the central contract. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have returned. They were dropped from the list last time due to disobedience to BCCI.

At the same time, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been rewarded for his excellent performance and has been promoted from Grade B to Grade A. He will now get Rs 5 crore annually.

No change in A+ grade

BCCI has retained the same 4 players in A+ grade - Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Off-spinner R Ashwin, who retired from international cricket last year, has been removed from this list.

Pant's promotion, Iyer's return

Apart from Rishabh Pant, Grade A includes - Mohammad Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Shami. Shreyas Iyer, who was out of the previous list, has now managed to make it to Grade B. Along with him in this grade are - Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Ishan Kishan, who was kept out of the Indian team for the last few months, has now been included in Grade C. He will get Rs 1 crore annually as retainership.

Many new faces in central contract

This year many young players have got a place in the contract list for the first time. These include - Nitish Kumar Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, Abhishek Sharma, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, Varun Chakraborty and Harshit Rana. All of them have been placed in Grade C. At the same time, Shardul Thakur, KS Bharat, Avesh Khan and Jitesh Sharma have been dropped from this time's list.
