12-Year-Old Assam Girl Wins Double Gold at Asian Yogasana Championship in Delhi
Sprihaa Hrishi Kashyap Secures Individual Backbending and Traditional Group Event Medals While Competing Against Athletes from 21 Countries;

In a magnificent display of skill, flexibility, and mental fortitude, 12-year-old Sprihaa Hrishi Kashyap from Morigaon, Assam has secured two gold medals for India at the prestigious 2nd Asian Yogasana Sports Championship held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from April 25-27, 2025.
Representing India on the international stage, Sprihaa clinched gold in the Backbending Individual Event and was also part of the winning team that secured gold in the Traditional Group Event. Her flawless execution and exceptional technique earned her top honors against competitors from 21 Asian countries participating in the championship.
A Class 8 student at DPS Khanapara, Guwahati, Sprihaa has been a rising star in the Yogasana circuit. Many viewers may recognize her as a contestant from the popular reality show Super Dancer 2, where she first showcased her extraordinary flexibility and discipline to a national audience.
"Sprihaa has always been dedicated to her practice. She trains for hours daily and has an incredible natural talent for yoga," said Mrs. Lipika Hazarika, Sprihaa's mother. Her father, Mr. Jitu Bora, added, "We are immensely proud of her achievement. She has brought honor not just to our family but to all of Assam and India."
The 2nd Asian Yogasana Championship, organized by Yogasana Bharat, saw participation from over 170 athletes from across Asia, along with numerous technical officials, team managers, and coaches. The event is part of the Indian government's ongoing initiative to promote Yogasana as a competitive sport globally.
Dr. Jaydeep Arya, General Secretary of World Yogasana, acknowledged the crucial role played by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in establishing yoga at an international forum, noting that "now it has got the status of a sport."
Udit Seth, President of Yogasana Bharat, emphasized that "Yoga is all about connecting with yourself, and it plays an important part in creating balance in everyone's life."
Sprihaa's achievement underscores the growing prominence of India in competitive Yogasana and highlights the potential of young talents from the Northeast region on international platforms.
