Under the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme, till Wednesday, more than 130 companies across the country have registered on the portal for more than 50,000 internship posts. According to sources in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, companies have registered on the PM Internship Portal to provide internships in 22 different sectors. Among these, the maximum internship opportunities have been made available in the oil, gas and energy sectors. After this, many internship opportunities are also available in the travel and hospitality sector.

Major private companies like Eicher Motors, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Jubilant Foodworks and Muthoot Finance have shown interest in hiring interns under this scheme. The government aims to provide more than 1.2 lakh internships this financial year.

Under the scheme, a list of selected candidates will be prepared between October 27 and November 7. Offer letters will be sent to the selected youth between November 8 and November 25 and internships will start from December 2.

The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme is to provide employment opportunities to the youth. For this, registration can be done on the portal pminternship.mca.gov.in. Under the scheme, internship opportunities will be provided in the top 500 companies in the country. More than 130 companies have registered so far, and more than 50,000 internship positions have been made available. Under this scheme, a stipend of Rs 5000 will be given every month and an additional payment of Rs 6000 will be made on completion of the internship.

Internships will be given in 22 sectors, mainly including the oil-gas and energy sectors. A target of 1.2 lakh internships has been set for this year.

Who are eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme?

Under this scheme, youth between 21 and 24 years can apply, who have completed studies from 12th to graduation. Students of online or distance learning are also eligible for this internship. Youth who are not in full-time employment or are not involved in any other education program can apply.

Who cannot apply?

Youths whose family income is more than Rs 8 lakh, whose family has a permanent government job, or who are studying in prestigious institutions like IIT, IIM, IISER, NID, IIIT and NLU are not eligible for this scheme. Apart from this, youth holding CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA or Master's degree cannot apply. Youth receiving skill training under any other government scheme will also not be eligible for this.

Unique scheme in the world

Aditya Ghosh, founder of Aakasha Air, praised this scheme and said, "No such scheme has ever been launched in the world before. This scheme has been in the works for a long time in collaboration with CII and the National Schemes Council. This will give the youth a better chance of employment and on-the-job training, which will increase their employability."

One crore youth will benefit in five years

Aditya Ghosh said that one crore youth will benefit from this scheme in the next five years. During the internship, the youth will get a stipend of Rs 5000, so that they will not have to work for free. With this scheme, it will be easier to get internships in big companies.

The internship starts on December 2

The internship will start on December 2 under the first batch. Companies will share information about the vacant internship posts on the PM Internship Portal and candidates will be able to apply from there.
