The happiness of the Jitiya festival has turned into mourning in many districts of Bihar. So far, 39 people have died among those who went to take bath in the river and pond on the occasion of the Jitiya festival. Aurangabad has reported the highest number of drowning deaths (10). Most of the deaths during Jitiya have occurred while bathing in the river. After Aurangabad, Chapra (05) has reported the highest number of deaths. Apart from this, 04 people have died in Rohtas, 3 in Kaimur, 3 in Siwan, 3 in Motihari, 2 in Bettiah, 2 in Begusarai, 1 each in Gopalganj, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur and Arwal. It is being told that the search for some people is still going on in many districts. In such a situation, the death toll may increase further.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over the accident in Aurangabad on the occasion of Jitiya. Regarding this incident, he said that what happened on the occasion of Jitiya is very sad. CM Nitish Kumar also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased. He also prayed to God to give courage to the families whose members died in this incident to remain patient in this hour of grief.
A five-year-old child died due to drowning in a canal while bathing with his mother and family on Jitiya festival on Wednesday evening near Sakri dam in Kaimur. The deceased child was a resident of Sakri village. It is being told that dozens of women from this village had gone to the river near the dam to bathe on the occasion of Jitiya. During this time this accident happened.
Many children who went to bathe during Jitiya festival in Madanpur and Barun blocks of Aurangabad district died due to drowning. It is said that the age of the children who died is less than 14 years.
There is news of the drowning of mother and daughter along with two other children in the Kalyanpur police station area of Motihari district. At the same time, three children died due to drowning in the Kalyanpur police station area. In this way, a total of five people have died due to drowning in Motihari. At the same time, a 13-year-old child died while bathing in the Son river near Dihri Pali bridge in Rohtas district.
