Supreme Court to hear petitions on Waqf Amendment Act on April 16 amid nationwide protests
Muslim Personal Law Board launches "Waqf Bachao Abhiyan" from April 10 to July 7, plans mass rallies and sit-ins across India;

Multiple petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Waqf Amendment Act. The apex court is scheduled to hear these cases on April 16. The bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar, and Justice KV Viswanathan will preside over the hearing.
It is worth noting that after the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha recently, it was sent to President Draupadi Murmu. The President has approved this bill, due to which it has taken the form of law. AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and a Congress MP have knocked on the door of the Supreme Court against this Waqf law.
The Muslim Personal Law Board has announced a large-scale protest program against the new Waqf law. The first phase of this protest has been started from today on April 10 and will continue till July 7.
The board says that the 'Waqf Bachao Abhiyan' will be run from village to village and city to city on the lines of the Shahbano case. Under this movement, big events will be held from Talkatora Stadium to Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. Also, sit-ins and arrest campaigns have been planned in the state capitals.
The first phase of the “Waqf Bachao Abhiyan” launched in protest against the Waqf Amendment Act will run from April 10 to July 7. During this, a big event will be held at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi on April 22 under the “Tahaffuz-e-Auqaf Caravan”.
Apart from this, a huge program will also be organized at Ramlila Maidan on May 7. Dharnas and arrests will also be carried out in the capitals of various states of the country. Also, after every Friday namaz, people will register their protest by forming a human chain.
