Step towards educational progress: Lakhs of students benefitted from Bihar government's scholarship schemes
Financial aid and encouragement for backward and extremely backward class students under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme;
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has continuously demonstrated his commitment towards improving education and social justice in the state. Under his leadership, the Bihar government has launched several important schemes to empower the students of backward and extremely backward classes. Under these schemes, educational assistance has been provided to lakhs of students, which is proving to be an important step towards their bright future.
The Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Bihar, has achieved major achievements in the years 2023-24 and 2024-25 under various scholarship schemes being run for the educational development and encouragement of the backward class and extremely backward class students of the state, which are as follows:
1. Chief Minister Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme -2023-24:
The total number of beneficiaries under this scheme run by the department is about 56 lakhs. An amount of about Rs 600 crore has been distributed to these students.
2. Chief Minister Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Post-Entry Scholarship Scheme -2023-24:
The total number of beneficiaries under this scheme is about 1 lakh 80 thousand. An amount of about Rs 92 crore has been distributed to the students under this scheme.
3. Chief Minister Extremely Backward Class Merit Scholarship Scheme 2024-25:
The number of female beneficiaries under this scheme is about 45,000, to whom an amount of about Rs 45 crore has been distributed.
At the same time, the number of male beneficiaries is about 57,000, to whom an amount of about Rs 57 crore has been distributed. This scheme is being run especially for the extremely backward classes.
4. Mukhyamantri Pichda Varg Medhavriti Yojana 2024-25:
The total number of beneficiaries under this scheme being run for the students of backward classes is about 74,000. An amount of about Rs 74 crore has been distributed to these students.
The Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Bihar, is committed to providing financial assistance to the socially and educationally weaker sections of the state. The objective of these schemes is to encourage students towards their education and ensure their active participation in the society.
