Second Suicide in a Month Shakes IIT Guwahati: Third-Year B.Tech Student Found Dead
Police Investigate Tragic Incident as IIT Administration Urges Focus on Mental Health
A suicide case has come to light at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. On Monday morning, Bimalesh Kumar, a third-year B.Tech. Computer Science student, allegedly committed suicide. Bimalesh hailed from Uttar Pradesh and was found dead in his room at the Brahmaputra hostel.
As soon as the tragic incident was reported, the police reached the spot and the body was sent for post-mortem. At present, the reasons for the suicide are not known and the police are investigating the matter.
It is worth noting that this is the second incident of suicide at IIT Guwahati in the last month. On August 9, M.Tech. student Soumya, also from Uttar Pradesh, was found dead in her room at the Disang hostel.
The IIT administration has condoled the death of the student and has appealed to all students to pay attention to mental health.
