Seat Sharing Agreement Finalized Among Maha Vikas Aghadi Partners for Maharashtra Elections

Seat sharing has been done in Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra. The seat-sharing agreement has been finalized in the meeting of Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) held on Wednesday. The three parties have decided to contest the elections on an 85-85-85 basis. The remaining 18 seats have been kept for alliance with regional parties. Other parties include the Samajwadi Party, Swabhimani Paksha (SWP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) and other parties. Out of 288 seats in Maharashtra, the remaining seats will be given to other allies. There are 288 seats in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Voting will be held here on November 20 in a single phase.

In fact, on Tuesday itself, seat sharing was decided between Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for 288 seats in Maharashtra. Meetings were held for several hours between the constituent parties for the distribution of seats. After the meeting, Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Sanjay Raut said that seat sharing in MVA has been finalized. Now there will be no more meetings. After this, seat sharing was announced in a press conference on Wednesday.

However, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has created a problem. On the seat-sharing formula, he said that the numbers can also change. Because who will contest on which seat is yet to be discussed. Sanjay Raut said that we are contesting elections as Maha Vikas Aghadi. Our government will be formed in Maharashtra.

On Wednesday evening itself, Shiv Sena (UBT) announced candidates for 65 seats. Uddhav Thackeray's son Aditya Thackeray will contest from Worli. Varun Desai has been given a ticket from Bandra East. Rajan Vichare has got a ticket from Thane. While Kedar Dighe has been fielded against CM Eknath Shinde from Kopri Pachpakhadi seat. Kedar Dighe is the nephew of Shinde's mentor Anand Dighe. After Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA), the list of Congress and NCP (SP) is yet to come.

Maharashtra Assembly has a total of 288 seats. The majority figure is 145. The term of the current Maharashtra Assembly is ending on 26 November 2024. Currently, the BJP has 103 MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly. Shiv Sena has 37 MLAs, NCP has 39 MLAs. Along with this, 9 members from smaller parties and 13 independents are also in the Assembly. The BJP-led coalition is called Mahayuti.

The alliance of Congress, Sharad Pawar faction and Uddhav Thackeray is in opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Congress has 37 MLAs, Shiv Sena UBT has 37 MLAs, NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) has 13 MLAs. An independent member is also part of the coalition. At the same time, there is one MLA from Bharatiya Shetkari Kamgar Paksha. Apart from this, there are 2 MLAs from MIM, 2 from the Samajwadi Party and 1 from CPI(M) in the Maharashtra Assembly.
