Upgradation work has been completed in Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, Patna with the aim of making the water park more attractive and convenient for tourists. This work done in two years (financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24) at a total cost of ₹ 2.45 crore was inaugurated today by Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, local MLA, Sanjeev Chaurasia and Secretary of the Department, Mrs. Bandana Preyashi. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HOFF) Mr. Prabhat Kumar Gupta, Director of Patna Zoo Mr. Hemant Patil and other officers and employees were present on the occasion.

The area of the water park has been increased by about 4,800 square meters. By removing the old and dilapidated enclosure, attractive and durable A-one fencing has been constructed in a length of about 820 meters. Apart from this, special attention has been given to the convenience of tourists by constructing new footpaths similar to the sandstone route. The main attraction of the water park is the 17 feet high waterfall which has been renovated to 32 feet. This waterfall will not only provide tourists with a beautiful view of water falling from the mountain but will also help in maintaining the amount of oxygen in the pond water and reducing the temperature of the surrounding environment.

13 types of fountains have been installed in the renovated water park, which incorporate traditional and modern techniques. These fountains will become the main attraction for tourists, especially children. The list of these fountains is as follows:

1. Two different types of wall fountains

2. Two stand fountains

3. One bamboo fountain

4. One peach (Ghada) fountain

5. One Rahat fountain

6. One block fountain

7. One mist fountain

8. One rain dance fountain

9. One log fountain

10. One fountain of seven elephant groups

11. One fish fountain of four fish groups

The rain dance fountain in the new fountains will become a new medium of entertainment especially for children and families. These structures have been constructed keeping in mind the environment and biodiversity. The water of the pond will continuously circulate through the waterfall and fountain, which will keep the water clean and benefit the surrounding biodiversity.

Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, said on the occasion of inauguration that "This water park will not only become a center of attraction for tourists, but will also set an example of environmental protection and awareness. This park will play an important role in connecting children and families with nature." This water park of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park has been prepared with the aim of bringing people closer to nature in Patna and surrounding areas. In the coming time, this place will provide a memorable experience to the tourists.
