Many reasons are emerging behind the murder of retired DGP Om Prakash. Disputes between husband and wife and wife Pallavi's menstrual disorder have also raised suspicion that the murder was committed by both mother and daughter.

After the murder, the mother and daughter harassed each other by not opening the door for the police who came to the house. There have been many instances of quarrels between wives in the past.

It is suspected that Pallavi, suffering from mental illness, conspired with her daughter to kill Om Prakash after losing her mental balance. The police have taken both of them into custody and are interrogating them.

Pallavi was undergoing treatment for mental illness for about 12 years. It is said that they suffer from depression like schizophrenia, and such persons are constantly in a state of confusion. They are worried about something. Similarly, police sources said that she was quarreling with her husband Om Prakash due to unfounded suspicion.

"My husband is harassing me and my daughter Kriti. They always keep a gun in the house. They are threatening to shoot me dead. Pallavi had posted a message on the family WhatsApp group of IPS officers three days ago, "Therefore, a suo motu case should be registered against her husband," sources said.

The police, who reached the spot after receiving information about the murder, were not allowed to enter the house by Pallavi and her daughter Kriti and were harassed. The mother-daughter duo did not open the door for more than half an hour. Therefore, the police were waiting at the door. Finally, senior police officers arrived at the scene and persuaded Pallavi and Kriti to open the door.

The police then entered the house and conducted a search operation. Om Prakash was murdered in the style of professional killers. The knife was stabbed on the face, nose, eyes, etc. Car powder was scattered at the place where the murder took place. Two knives and a bottle were found in the hall. Police sources said the knife used by Pallavi in the crime, which was wrapped in a sheet, has been seized.

Omprakash owns two houses in Bengaluru. A flat in Prestige Apartments near Cauvery Junction and a house in IPS Quarters in HSR Layout. Omprakash and Pallavi lived on the ground floor of the IPS Quarters building. The couple's son Karthikesh lives with his wife on the third floor of the same building, and Omprakash's daughter lives on the second floor. Omprakash was living in a flat in Prestige Apartments when he had a fight with his wife.

It is reported that at the time of the murder, three people including Omprakash were present in the entire building. Omprakash's son and daughter-in-law had gone out. Only Pallavi and daughter Kriti were at home. Omprakash and his children also had differences over property. Apart from this, the couple was also having a family feud for many years. Police said Pallavi was depressed due to this.

Pallavi had staged a sit-in protest against her husband in front of his house a few months ago. Later, a complaint was also lodged in this regard at the HSR Layout police station. Omprakash had repeatedly told police officials close to him about the family discord. It is also known that he had complained that he could not bear the harassment of his wife.

Omprakash, a 1981 batch IPS officer, started his career as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Harapanahalli sub-division in Ballari district. He was posted there during the Bhatkal communal riots in 1993. He served as DIG in Administration Division, Northern Zone, Training Division, Fire and Emergency Services Department. He had also served as CID IGP and Transport Department Commissioner. He was ADGP in Crime and Technical Services, Grievances and Human Rights Division for a few years. He had served as Director General of State Home Guards and Fire Brigade and took over as the 38th Director General of Police (DG-IGP) of the state in March 2015. He later served as DG-IGP till 2017 and retired. Om Prakash was murdered by beating and sharp weapon. The sharp weapon found at the scene has been seized. There were three people in the house at the time of the incident. Om Prakash's son Kartikesh has filed a complaint regarding the murder. The exact motive of the murder is unknown and no arrest has been made yet. Additional Commissioner of Police (West Division) Vikas Kumar Vikas said that some people are being questioned.
