Railways Accepts Resignations of Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia After Issuing Show Cause Notice
Big relief for the wrestlers as Railways clears the way for Vinesh Phogat to contest Haryana assembly elections and Bajrang Punia takes up a key role in the Congress.
Before the Haryana assembly elections, the Congress party has taken two wrestlers from Haryana, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, into its fold. Earlier, Vinesh and Bajrang had immediately resigned from their railway jobs. After this, the Railways issued a show cause notice to both the wrestlers. However, now the Railways has given a big relief to Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia and has accepted the resignation of both.
Actually, according to the rules of the Election Commission, until the Railways accepts the resignation of Vinesh Phogat and gives her an NOC. Till then she cannot contest the elections. Northern Railways says that the show cause notice is part of the service rules because, in the records of the Railways, she is still a government employee. However, now the resignation of Bajrang and Vinesh has been accepted.
The Congress has released the list of candidates for the Haryana assembly elections. According to this list, female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been given a ticket from the Julana assembly seat of the state. At the same time, Bajrang Punia will not contest the elections. He has been given the post of President of Bharatiya Kisan Congress. After the Railways accepted the resignation, the way was cleared for Vinesh Phogat to contest the elections.
Vinesh Phogat had said in her resignation sent to the Railways that she is currently working as OSD/Sports under Railway Level-7. Vinesh had said that she is unable to perform her duties as OSD/Sports due to her family circumstances/personal reasons.
