Punjab Police Seize 5 Kg Heroin, Arrest Three in Amritsar

Part of Ongoing Crackdown, Total 27.2 Kg Heroin Recovered in Less Than a Week

In the midst of the ongoing war against drugs that is being waged on the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has arrested three drug smugglers after recovering 5 kilograms of heroin from their possession, as stated by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday. This is yet another blow that has been delivered to the trans-border narcotic networks.

When compared to the approximately 27.2 kilograms of heroin that has been recovered from Amritsar in a span of less than a week, this is the second consignment of 5 kilograms of heroin that has been recovered from Amritsar in a single day.

Jaskaran Singh, who lives in Vanieke in Amritsar, Rasal Singh, who lives in the town of Naushehra in Tarn Taran, and Amritpal Singh, who lives in Sahura in Amritsar, have been identified as the individuals who were taken into custody. In addition to collecting a shipment of drugs, law enforcement officers apprehended a Yamaha scooter with the registration number PB-02-DW-4187, which was being used by the individual in question while he was touring.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the CI Amritsar has got a trustworthy input that suspects Rasal Singh, Jaskaran Singh, and Amritpal Singh have collected a massive shipment of narcotics that was dropped using a drone near the border village of Dhanoe, which is located within the jurisdiction of the Gharinda Police Station.

He stated that police teams from CI Amritsar, commanded by DSP CI Balbir Singh, erected a naka at Baghdhian Morh in the hamlet of Ranike in Amritsar and caught the three individuals who were accused of the crime along with five kilograms of heroin. He said that this was done in a prompt manner. According to the findings of the investigation, all of the individuals who were arrested were in direct contact with drug traffickers headquartered in Pakistan, he noted.

According to the Director General of Police, video capturing of the entire search and seizure procedure was carried out in the presence of a Gazetted Officer in accordance with the terms of the new criminal legislation. He went on to say that investigations are currently being conducted in order to determine both backward and forward ties in this particular situation.

In this regard, a case FIR number 37 has been filed at the Police Station State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar. The FIR was filed in accordance with provisions 21, 25, and 29 of the National Disaster Prevention Service Act.

On June 28, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police were successful in busting two different drug smuggling gangs that were operating across the border. These cartels were being run by smugglers located in Pakistan. The police arrested three drug traffickers after finding 9.2 kilograms of heroin (8.2 kilograms plus one kilogram) from their hands.

As of the 29th of June, Amritsar Rural Police were able to dismantle two more drug smuggling rackets that were supported by Pakistan. They did this by arresting six individuals and retrieving eight kilograms of heroin and three firearms from their possession.

Police from the Amritsar Commissionerate detained a drug smuggler on July 2 and identified him as Lakhwinder Singh, also known as Lakha, from Khemkaran. They did this after they found five kilograms of heroin in his possession.

Three drug traffickers have been apprehended by Counter Intelligence Amritsar on July 2 after the agency discovered five kilograms of heroin in their possession.
