Trinamool Congress MP Arup Chakraborty Criticized for Controversial Remarks on Protests; Nationwide Demonstrations Demand Justice as CBI Moves Forward with Polygraph Tests
The public is furious over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Doctors and health workers in hospitals across the country are protesting against this heinous incident. During this Trinamool Congress MP from Bankura West Bengal, Arup Chakraborty has given a controversial statement regarding this movement.
Trinamool Congress MP Arup Chakraborty has said that any attempt to smear ink on the Chief Minister will have serious consequences. He has also warned that doctors participating in the ongoing protest may have to face the public's anger. If doctors go home in the name of the movement instead of doing their medical work and doctors go out with their boyfriends in the name of the movement, then there will be public anger.
At a rally in Machantala, Chakraborty criticized the opposition's efforts and warned the protesting junior doctors to return to work. He also warned that if hospital services remain disrupted, there may be anger among the people. He reprimanded a section of the police for allegedly supporting opposition activities and urged them to follow the instructions of the state government. He also said that public anger can flare up if people's patients die, there will be public outrage. He raises a question, “If the patients die without treatment, will the patient's family leave them?”
He also took the police to task and said that some policemen are not working in an impartial manner. He also reminded them, “They work under the government. They should keep this in mind. We have such reports and we will report it to the highest level.”
At the same time, the CPM has strongly condemned Chakraborty's statements and accused him of seeing everyone including the opposition, protesting doctors and even the police as opponents in the face of public outrage.
A post graduate trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9, 2024. She was raped and murdered. There is anger in the whole country due to this incident, after which protests are taking place across the country. Many people associated with the medical field in Kolkata are demanding justice.
CBI has got permission to conduct polygraph test of Kolkata rape-murder case accused Sanjay Roy. The investigating agency had applied to the court. Earlier, the agency had conducted a psychological test of the accused. Now the polygraph test will reveal how much truth and lies the accused is telling. CBI also wants to conduct a polygraph test on the former principal of the hospital Sandeep Ghosh.
