Police Families Shine at 52nd Raising Day Celebrations - "Upaan" Lights Up Delhi
The Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) celebrated its 52nd anniversary (UPAAN) at Delhi Police HQ. The event featured cultural performances, felicitation of achievers, and a showcase of PFWS initiatives for Delhi Police families.
52nd Raising Day- ‘UPAAN’ of Police Families Welfare Society was celebrated at Adarsh Auditorium, Police Headquarters, Delhi. Educationist and Social worker, Smt. Sangita Saxena w/o Sh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble, Lt. Governor of Delhi graced the occasion with her presence. President, PFWS, Smt. Ritu Arora, Ex-Presidents, PFWS, Delhi Police officials, their families and other revered guests were present during the event. The Cultural evening was the culmination of a week long celebration conducted at various Welfare Centres, all over Delhi.
The event started with Lamp Lighting by Hon’ble Chief Guest followed by series of cultural events which included performances by Delhi Police family members and students of Delhi Police Public School, Safdarjung Enclave. An audio visual showcasing the various activities, schemes and facilities started by the PFWS for the family members of police personnel was displayed.
In her Welcome address, President, Police Families Welfare Society made the august gathering aware about the year long activities conducted by the Society which included establishment of ‘Smita’ (Therapy Centre for specially abled children), Public Speaking Course, Sewing Course, Mission Olympics ( for nurturing the sports talent of children of police families) amongst other activities organised during last one year. President, PFWS also elaborated on how these activities have helped families of police personnel to become independent and also how the skill development has led to better placement of police family members in good organisations.
8th Edition of annual magazine of PFWS- ‘Koshish-Ek- Asha’ was released by Hon’ble Chief Guest Smt. Sangita Saxena in the presence of President PFWS, Smt Ritu Arora and senior members of the magazine committee. Digital version of the annual magazine was also unveiled by Hon’ble Chief Guest.
The annual function included felicitation of achievers in various fields including those who had partnered PFWS in various activities throughout the year. The felicitation ceremony included honouring of Resource Persons from Honda Motor Corp, Sahyog Care 4U organization, Singer India Ltd and Wommenovator who provided their unwavering support for the execution of various schemes/ activities started by PFWS. Therapist from ‘Smita- Therapy Centre, Delhi Police staff and teachers from DPPS were also felicitated during the event. Delhi Police family members who have just cleared the prestigious UPSC Civil services examination were also honoured.
Top 3 Welfare Centres which actively & successfully conduced various welfare activities throughout the year were awarded for their excellence. New Police Lines was awarded as the best Welfare Centre followed by Welfare Centre Shalimar Bagh and Welfare Centre Vikas Puri.
In her address, Hon’ble Chief Guest, Smt. Sangita Saxena praised the role of police families who stood rock solid behind the police personnel while performing their duties. She lauded the Police Families Welfare Society led by President, Smt. Ritu Arora in continuously organizing welfare activities for the families of police personnel.
