Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government and IIT Patna Collaborate for Special Placement Drive in Polytechnic Institutes
New Initiatives to Promote Employment, Internships, and Skill Development for Polytechnic Students through Industry Collaboration and Hackathons
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education of Bihar Government will now run a special placement campaign (Placement Drive) for the students of Government Polytechnic Institutes of Bihar in collaboration with IIT, Patna, for which a meeting was held today on 04.10.2024 at 11:00 am in the joint presence of Secretary, Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Bihar, Patna and Director, IIT, Patna, in which decisions were taken on various points:
1. To promote employment and internship, project work of students studying in government polytechnic institutes, contracts will be made with renowned industry partners of the country. In which IIT, Patna will provide support to the department. This type of contract will especially help in the employment of polytechnic students.
2. IIT, Patna will assist the department in establishing coordination with the industries present in Bihar and the neighbouring states, so that students can get employment opportunities near their homes.
3. Keeping employment in mind, it was decided to form placement cells in all the institutes with the help of IIT, Patna. 4. To develop intellectual capacity, leadership capacity, analytical capacity and all-around development of students studying in government polytechnic institutes, state state-level hackathon program will be organized in IIT, Patna campus for the students who win the district level hackathon program. IIT, Patna will provide internship and employment opportunities to the students who win at the state level. Such students will also be sent to national level hackathons.
5. It was decided that the teachers and experts of IIT, Patna will regularly attend the institute and teach the students studying at the Center of Excellence so that the quality of institutional training can be increased.
6. The ERP portal has been developed for monitoring and smooth implementation of the work of Centre of Excellence. Now with the help of the ERP portal, the attendance of teachers and students will be recorded and all types of classes and exercises will be conducted by the teachers. Also monitored the details related to school training.
7. Latest and emerging techniques like ICT and JPG have been introduced in 44 government polytechnic institutes of the state on new and emerging methods. For teaching in 44 government polytechnic institutes, a centre of excellence has been established in 44 state polytechnic institutes through IIT, Patna.
8. Students of the 5th and 6th semesters of government polytechnic institutes are receiving training. After pre-training, their listening is being done by IIT, Patna and the State Technical Education Board, Patna.
