Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Maa Mundeshwari Wildlife Eco Park and Teera Pump Canal in Kaimur District
Focus on Eco-Tourism and Infrastructure Development in Bihar's Kaimur District
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Maa Mundeshwari Wildlife Eco Park in Bhagwanpur block, Kaimur district, marking a significant step towards promoting eco-tourism in the region. Constructed by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at a cost of ₹10.4 crore, the park is spread across 13.6 acres at the base of Paura Hill.
During the inauguration, Nitish Kumar inspected the park from an electronic auto rickshaw and planted saplings, reinforcing the government’s commitment to its water-life-greenery campaign. The park boasts statues of various wild animals, lush gardens, and features such as an open-air theatre with a seating capacity for 300-400 people, gazebos, fountains, and automatic sprinklers to maintain its greenery. The park is expected to attract a steady stream of tourists, promoting eco-tourism in the area.
"The development of this park at the foot of Paura Hill is a unique step towards bringing people closer to nature while preserving the ecological balance," said Kumar during his address.
Additionally, Kumar inaugurated tourist facilities at the Telhar Kund waterfall, located 30 kilometers from Bhabua, Bihar’s deepest waterfall. These facilities include an access path, parking, security railings, and a viewing point, developed at a cost of ₹2.25 crore. The waterfall, which cascades from a height of 500-600 feet, is expected to see a surge in visitors due to the improved infrastructure.
Following the eco-park inauguration, the Chief Minister visited the historical Maa Mundeshwari Temple, one of India’s oldest temples, believed to have been constructed around 108 AD, where he prayed for the state's well-being.
Nitish Kumar also inaugurated the Teera Pump Canal Scheme in Nuaon block, providing uninterrupted irrigation to several villages, including Teera and Akhini, at a critical time for agricultural development. He emphasized the importance of maintaining this system to ensure the local population benefits from reliable irrigation.
The Chief Minister’s visit extended to the newly upgraded Middle School and Anganwadi Center in Teera village, where he engaged with students and teachers. Kumar stressed the importance of quality education and nutrition for the development of children, ensuring that government schemes were being properly implemented.
During his visit, Nitish Kumar laid the foundation for 11 new police buildings in Kaimur district, an investment worth ₹4.18 crore. Additionally, he inaugurated the Bhabua and Mahenia drinking water supply schemes, urging officials to complete the projects on time and maintain the quality of drinking water.
The Chief Minister also distributed symbolic cheques under several government schemes, including ₹103 crore to 12,138 Jeevika Self Help Groups, ₹1.03 crore to beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, and other welfare programs aimed at improving the lives of local residents.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, and several other senior officials.
With the inauguration of new parks, improved infrastructure for education, and expanded civic amenities, Nitish Kumar's initiatives in Kaimur district demonstrate the state’s broader focus on sustainable development and enhanced public welfare.
