MoU Signed for Super Specialty Eye Hospital in Patna by Shankara Eye Foundation

State Government Allocates Land; Hospital to Offer Free Treatment for 75% of Patients, Including Advanced Eye Care Services

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Health Department and Shankara Eye Foundation India, Coimbatore in 'Samvad' located at the Chief Minister's Secretariat in front of Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today. This MoU has been signed regarding the construction and operation of a super specialty eye hospital in Patna.

On this occasion, Secretary of Health Department Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh and Managing Director of Shankara Eye Foundation India, Coimbatore Padmashree Dr. RB Ramani signed the MoU and handed over a copy to each other.

It is known that a super specialty eye hospital will be established in Patna by Shankara Eye Foundation India, Coimbatore. The State Government granted approval by the Council of Ministers on 3 December 2024 to give 1.60 acres of land in Kankarbagh, Patna on a conditional lease at a token amount of Rs 1 to Shankara Eye Foundation India, Coimbatore to build a super specialty eye hospital. Shankara Eye Foundation India is an internationally renowned hospital for eye treatment, which will construct and operate the hospital on this land at its own expense. In this, along with general eye treatment, complex diseases like corneoplasty, retina detachment and eye cancer can also be treated. In this regard, 75 percent of the patients will be treated for free and 25 percent will be paid. Families with an income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh per year will be able to get free treatment.

During the program, the Chief Minister was welcomed by Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department, Shri Pratyaya Amrit by presenting a green plant.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources cum Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Health Minister Shri Mangal Pandey, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Shri Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Anupam Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Kumar Ravi, Secretary of Health Department Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Executive Director of State Health Committee Shri Suharsh Bhagat, Managing Director of Shankara Eye Foundation India, Coimbatore Padma Shri Dr. RB Ramani and Dr. Bharat along with other senior officials of the Health Department were present.
