New Delhi, February 27, 2024:In a bid to promote active participation of the youth in the democratic process, the Ministry of Education is set to kick off the "Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye" initiative from February 28th to March 6th, 2024. The campaign aims to enlighten and engage first-time voters, urging them to exercise their franchise for the betterment of the nation.

Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, echoed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's call to the youth to make their voices heard by participating in the electoral process. Minister Pradhan emphasized the significance of voting, making informed choices, and actively contributing to a more representative democracy.

All Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the country have been directed to conduct comprehensive voter awareness activities during the week-long initiative. The objective is to galvanize the youth, highlighting the importance of voting and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the electoral process.

The initiative will see the active participation of HEIs across the nation, with designated spaces identified for voter awareness activities on campuses. Both on-ground physical events and online competitions on the MyGov platform will take place to encourage creative content creation, including blog writing, podcasts, debates, essay writing, quizzes, extempore, and even a Battle of Bands.

Interactive workshops and seminars focusing on the value of voting and understanding the electoral process will be organized at the institutions. Students will also be encouraged to take the voter's pledge on the official website https://ecisveep.nic.in/pledge/ to solidify their commitment to the electoral process. Additionally, the campaign will promote the download of the Voter Helpline App.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) and its volunteers will lead the program in educational institutions, with activities documented on the 'My Gov' portal for wider dissemination. Various educational institution clubs will actively participate in the campaign, adding momentum to the initiative.

This nationwide effort seeks to instill a sense of civic duty and pride in voting, underscoring the essence of elections in the world's largest democracy. As the campaign unfolds, it is anticipated that the "Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye" initiative will empower and encourage the youth to actively contribute to the democratic fabric of the nation.
