Mayawati Criticizes Congress's 'Bharat Dojo Yatra' as a Mockery of the Poor
BSP Chief Accuses Congress of Politicizing Sports and Ignoring the Plight of Marginalized Communities
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Friday targeted the Congress over the "Bharat Dojo Yatra" and said that it is a "joke" on the people struggling with poverty and the politicization of sports is harmful. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday shared a video on his YouTube channel which is from the time of the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' taken out earlier this year. In the video, he is seen sharing the nuances of martial arts with several children. He said that the 'Bharat Dojo Yatra' is going to start soon.
Mayawati directly targeted the Congress over this and posted on 'X', "No one denies the importance of dojo and other sports for people with full stomachs, but what about those crores of families struggling with poverty, unemployment, inflation and backwardness etc. who are forced to work hard day and night to feed their stomachs. Isn't the Bharat Dojo Yatra a mockery of them?"
'Dojo' is usually called a training room or school for martial arts.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati wrote in the post, "Congress and its 'INDI' alliance increased their strength by taking votes of SC (Scheduled Caste), ST (Scheduled Tribe) and OBC (Other Backward Class) in the name of saving reservation and constitution, but is it right to adopt this cruel attitude towards them by forgetting their hunger and agony after their purpose is achieved? Politicization of sports is harmful and will not be allowed to happen anymore."
