Maharashtra Assembly Elections Take a Bizarre Turn: Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi Offered Candidacy by Political Party
Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena Compares Bishnoi to Bhagat Singh, Promises Full Support Despite Criminal Allegations
Preparations for the Maharashtra Assembly elections are going on in full swing. Voting will be held on all 288 seats on November 20 and the results will come on November 23. Amidst all this, a strange statement of a party has come to the fore. The party has even offered gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to contest the elections. Recently, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui. Along with this, many cases including threatening to kill Salman Khan are going on against Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi has received an offer to contest the elections from Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena Party of Maharashtra.
Sunil Shukla, the president of Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena Party has written a formal letter to Bishnoi and compared him to the great revolutionary Bhagat Singh. In the letter, Shukla praised Bishnoi and called him a 'revolutionary' and expressed confidence that Bishnoi's entry into politics could bring significant change. He assured that the party would make every effort to ensure his victory.
Shukla wrote in the letter, 'We propose that you contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The workers and office bearers of the Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena are ready to support your campaign. We are just waiting for your response.' The letter further states, 'We are proud that you (Lawrence Bishnoi), a North Indian born in Punjab, represent an issue that matches the values of our party. Our party will leave no stone unturned to ensure your victory.'
The Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena is a registered political party that advocates the rights of North Indians living in Maharashtra. The name of 31-year-old gangster Lawrence Bishnoi first came to the national level when he was linked to the murder of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala on May 29, 2022. Moose Wala, a member of the Congress party, was murdered by Bishnoi's associates. It was described as the result of a gang war. Recently, the Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder of 66-year-old politician Baba Siddiqui. Siddiqui, a former MLA and ex-minister, was known for his close ties with Bollywood stars, including actor Salman Khan.
Siddique's murder has added fuel to growing concerns about Bishnoi's criminal exploits, especially after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations that Indian officials were providing information to organised crime groups targeting Canadian citizens. Bishnoi has been in jail since 2015, but his criminal influence continues to grow.
