In Bihar, lightning has caused havoc for the past twenty-four hours. Lightning has claimed the lives of ten persons in the state. On Sunday, July 7, the Chief Minister's Office released this information. A news release from the chief minister's office states that lightning has killed two persons in the Nalanda district and one person in each of the following districts: Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Rohtas, Saran, Jamui, Bhojpur, and Gopalganj. CM Nitish Kumar has sent the families of the departed his condolences.

In addition to urging people to exercise caution during inclement weather, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the relatives of each deceased person. In reality, over 40 people have died from lightning strikes in Bihar during the past two weeks of rain and thunderstorms.

The monsoon rains that began in Bihar in July have turned into a disaster. It is entangling people who are going out for vital work and farmers laboring in the fields. In just one week, numerous lives have been lost and numerous more have suffered injuries. People have also been cautioned by the weather service not to leave their houses while it's raining. They have also been warned to store their cattle and produce in a secure location.
