In a significant stride toward boosting rural infrastructure, Lakhisarai district of Bihar has been granted administrative approval for two new road projects under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). The approval, given on the directive of Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, paves the way for the construction and strengthening of two major road stretches at an estimated cost of over ₹44 crore.

Minister Nabin stated that both projects aim not just at building roads, but at widening and reinforcing them to improve connectivity in rural belts. “These roads will not only ease transportation but also act as a catalyst for socio-economic development,” he remarked.

Halasi to Manjhave: A 10.35 km Lifeline

The first project involves the widening and strengthening of a 10.35-kilometre stretch from Halasi to Manjhave, with an allocated budget of ₹25.96 crore. Once completed, this road will serve as a crucial link connecting villages like Mohaddinagar, Sethna, Behranwa, Geruapur Sanda, Shivsona, Dheera, Bardokhar, and Rata. Notably, the road will also provide direct access to the Government Engineering College located in Shivsona, easing travel for students commuting from Lakhisarai and adjoining areas.

Additionally, the improved stretch is expected to bolster inter-district connectivity by facilitating smoother access to the border areas of neighbouring Jamui district.

Vidya Peeth Chowk to Mohanpur: A Step Closer to Seamless Travel

The second sanctioned plan is the 5.15-kilometre road from Vidya Peeth Chowk to Mohanpur, for which ₹18.16 crore has been approved. The project will link a cluster of villages including Rehua, Kishanpur, Mohanpur, Ramchandrapur, Piparia, Phulwaria, Surjichak, and Rahatpur. This road is of particular importance as it passes by key educational institutions, including the well-known Balika Vidyapeeth.

“The road will be a blessing for students, especially during monsoon months when access is hindered by water-logged and damaged routes,” said a local school principal, welcoming the announcement.

Tenders Soon, Timely Completion Assured

Minister Nabin emphasized the importance of swift execution, directing officials to issue tenders at the earliest and ensure completion within stipulated timelines. “Timely delivery is key. We want the people of Lakhisarai to feel the impact of these projects at the ground level,” he asserted.

Locals have welcomed the move, with many expressing hope that the improved roadways will lead to better access to education, healthcare, and markets, thereby unlocking new avenues for growth in the region.

As the wheels of development begin to turn with fresh momentum, Lakhisarai stands on the brink of infrastructural transformation—one paved road at a time.
