Isha and Mihir of JNU Secure Top Spot in North Regional Stage of NICE 2024
Mother's International School Shines in School Category; IIT Delhi Hosts Successful Crossword Competition for Students
Isha and Mihir of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) secured the first position in the North Regional stage of the National Inter College Crossword Expedition (NICE) 2024. The competition was held at IIT Delhi on Saturday. Also, students of Mother's International School showcased their talent in the school category and won the title of winner. The top winners of both categories were awarded prizes and certificates.
The competition in the North Regional stage of NICE 2024 was held in two phases. In the first phase, the top 60 qualifiers after the online rounds took part in written preliminary and stage competitions. Based on the final scores of this competition, Isha and Mihir of JNU secured the first position, Tushy and Aarush Ranjan of IIT Delhi stood second, while Harshul and Aarush, also from IIT Delhi, stood third. These three top teams will now represent the North Region in the Grand Finale.
NICE 2024, organised in collaboration with AICTE, IIT Madras, IIM Mumbai and Extra-C (a non-profit organisation), is renowned for promoting co-curricular activities and especially cryptic crosswords among youth for the past decade. The grand finale of the competition will be held in New Delhi where top teams from North, East, West, South and North-East will compete for the coveted trophy.
On the occasion, students of Mother's International School also proved their mettle in the crossword competition. Veer and Ramya secured the first position in the school category, while Chansya and Mishti of Jammu Sanskar School were ranked second. The winning team secured their place for the grand finale of the National Inter-School Cryptic Crossword Competition 12.0.
The chief guest of the event, Shri Vivek Kumar Singh, IAS, Chairman, Bihar RERA blessed the participants and emphasised the importance of such events for the mental development of students. The competition was conducted by Cross Master Shri Vinayak Ekbote. Professor Pradyumna, in-charge of co-curricular activities at IIT Delhi, also attended the event. The tireless efforts of the volunteers from IIT Delhi played a vital role in making the event a success.
