Intensify Health Awareness Drive to Transform Punjab into a 'Sehatmand and Rangla Punjab', Urges Dr. Balbir Singh
Minister Calls for Effective Communication and Community Engagement to Combat Diseases and Promote Well-Being
In an effort to realise the vision of ‘Sehatmand Punjab, Rangla Punjab’ set forth by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh directed the Mass Education and Media (MEM) wing of the department to enhance the health awareness campaigns to ensure it effectively reaches the grassroots level.
Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday, Dr. Balbir Singh emphasised that mass communication is the most effective way to control and prevent diseases. He stated that it is the utmost responsibility of the MEM wing to disseminate accurate and relevant information to the public while ensuring educational and communication activities are conducted across Punjab.
He said that the wing officials serve as the eyes and ears of the department, and the government expects them to effectively disseminate health-related information to the general public while ensuring a smooth flow of information within the department.
Referring to the “Har Shukarvaar, Dengue Te Vaar” campaign, Dr. Balbir Singh remarked, “We have observed a decline in dengue cases in the state compared to previous years, which is a direct result of our awareness drive against the disease.”
Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the upcoming awareness campaign will concentrate on the prevention of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. In the coming days, the public will be informed via the food safety vans operated by the state government to combat food adulteration in all districts.
Administrative Secretary Health and Family Welfare Kumar Rahul and Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Hitinder Kaur, Director Health Services (Family Welfare) Dr Jasminder were also present in the meeting.
