Indian Railways Launches Over 500 Special Trains to Manage Post-Chhath Puja Rush
Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic Leads to Enhanced Rail Services Across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Neighboring Regions
Chhath Puja is being celebrated with devotion in various areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The enthusiasm for this festival is so high that every year lakhs of passengers travel to their homes from other states. Now the Railways has taken a big decision keeping in mind the return of passengers and the crowd that will come after Chhath Puja is over. The Railways has arranged more than 500 special trains in view of the crowd of passengers returning to their home areas from November 8. The Railway Board has given information about this on Wednesday.
A statement issued by the Railway Board said - "Special trains have been announced for the returning passengers and plans have been made to run additional trains from Samastipur, Danapur and other divisions to meet the local demand."
The notice issued by the Railway Board said that the crowd of passengers will start after sunrise on November 8 on the day of Chhath Puja. Keeping in mind the possibility of crowd of passengers, 164 special trains have been arranged by the Railways on November 8. After this, the Railways plans to run 160 special trains on November 9, 161 trains for November 10 and 155 special trains for November 11.
The Railway Board has informed that on November 4, a 'record' 120.72 lakh passengers travelled by railways in a single day. The Board has informed that out of these passengers, 19.43 lakh were reserved passengers and 101.29 lakh were unreserved non-suburban passengers. This number of passengers travelling by railways is more than the combined population of Australia and New Zealand. The Railway Board has informed that in the last 36 days, about 65 lakh passengers have travelled by 4,521 special trains. According to the Railway Board, a total of 7,724 special trains have been announced to meet the increasing demand for travel during the festivals from October 1 to November 30. This number of trains is more than 73 percent compared to 4,429 trains last year.
