India to Introduce Three New Vande Bharat Trains with Inauguration by PM Modi

New Vande Bharat Express Trains to Connect Chennai to Nagercoil, Madurai to Bengaluru, and Meerut to Lucknow, Enhancing Regional Connectivity Starting September 2

The country is going to get three new Vande Bharat trains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three new Vande Bharat Express trains through video conferencing on August 31, Saturday. These three new Vande Bharat trains will run between Chennai to Nagercoil, Madurai to Bengaluru and Meerut to Lucknow. Vande Bharat was first launched on February 15, 2019, under the "Make in India" initiative. At present, more than 100 Vande Bharat trains are running, which connect more than 280 districts.

Formal ceremonies will be held at Dr. MGR Chennai Central Railway Station and Madurai Junction in the Southern Railway Division to inaugurate Vande Bharat trains. After the inauguration, regular services of both the new trains will be started from September 2. The train to Nagercoil will be flagged off from Dr. MGR Chennai Central Station only on the day of inauguration, but regular service will be from Chennai Egmore. This train will run on all days except Wednesday. Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil-Chennai Egmore train (20627/20628) will have 16 coaches. At the same time, Vande Bharat Express going from Lucknow to Meerut will run daily. The timetable and schedule of this train have not been released yet. The fare of chair car in this train is expected to be around Rs 1500.

Train number 20627 will leave Chennai Egmore at 5 am. It will reach Nagercoil at 1.50 pm on the same day. On the way, it will stop at Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchirapalli, Dindugal, Madurai, Kovilpatti and Tirunelveli stations. At the same time, train number 20628 will leave from Nagercoil Junction at 2.20 pm and reach Chennai Egmore at 11 pm.

Vande Bharat train running between Madurai and Bangalore Cantonment will run six days a week except Tuesday. Train number 20671 will leave Madurai at 5.15 am and reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 1 pm. It will leave the Bengaluru Cantonment at 1.30 pm and reach Madurai at 9.45 pm. En route, it will stop at Dindugal, Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem and Krishnarajapuram stations.
