India For Children, the country’s only media and communication agency dedicated to children’s rights, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Swami Vivekanand Award’ for its contribution in highlighting and promoting child rights issues in media across the country.
The award under the Peace Category was presented to the Director India For Children by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Mr Jual Oram on the occasion of Bharatiya Youth Parliament at Amity University, Noida.
The awards were given in Peace, Environment, and SEWA categories after meticulous selection by a panel of experts from various fields and presented to the winners during the programme organized by Social Reforms & Research Organisation (SRRO) in association with Amity University to mark the 162nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand.
Appreciating the efforts of award winners for playing a crucial role in transforming society and highlighting children’s issues, Mr Oram evoked Swami Vivekananda teachings which continue to draw inspiration and ignite passion and purpose in young minds to serve the country.
“Arise! Awake and stop not until the goal is reached. These words of Swamiji are so relevant today as they evoke the spirit of self-reliance, discipline, and collective development among the youth, who are the future of our country,” he said.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the award, Anil Pandey, Director, India For Children (I4C), said, “This recognition affirms the organization’s credibility and places an even greater responsibility on us to continue our efforts to champion the rights of every child in the country. Our mission to bring child rights issues to the forefront of mainstream media has, so far, been a resounding success. We have cultivated an ecosystem where child protection has become a priority across digital, print, and electronic platforms.
Our efforts have yielded tangible results, with a noticeable shift in media perceptions, ensuring greater visibility and advocacy for children’s issues in India. Looking ahead, we are confident that crimes against children—particularly child marriage, child sexual abuse, and child trafficking—will end. India will lead by example in building an ecosystem where such injustices no longer have a place to thrive.”
India For Children, established in 2017, amplifies the work of 250+ NGOs across the country who are working for child protection and child rights. Besides facilitating content on children’s issues across print, digital, electronic, and social media platforms, I4C also organizes conferences, media meets, workshops and creates films and awareness videos on child marriage, child trafficking, child sexual abuse, and child labour. In 2024 alone, India for Children secured 10,000 media mentions of these issues many of which were on the front page and in prime time, and reached millions online.
Among the guests of honour include social reformer and spiritual leader Swami Vishalanand, spiritual leader and motivational speaker Pradeep Bhaiyaji, Convenor organizing committee Pramod Kumar, and eminent TV journalist Dinesh Gautam.
