Independence Day Seating Controversy: Rahul Gandhi in Fourth Row
Congress Alleges PM Modi's Frustration, Government Defends Decision as Olympic Honors
The Congress on Thursday claimed that Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi had to sit in the back row during the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. On the issue, Congress said that making Rahul Gandhi sit in the back is a sign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's frustration. It shows that the government has no care for democracy and democratic traditions. Party spokesperson and head of the social media cell Supriya Shrinate also said that this does not matter to Rahul Gandhi.
On the other hand, government sources said that all seating arrangements were made as per the priority table and this year it was decided that the medal winners of the Paris Olympics will be honored as special guests in the Independence Day celebrations.
According to sources, this is the reason why Olympic medalists were made to sit in the front. Supriya Shrinate claimed in a statement, 'It is meaningless to expect big things from people with small minds.
Narendra Modi has shown his frustration by making the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi sit in the fifth row during the Independence Day function. Still, it does not matter to Rahul Gandhi’.
Supriya Shrinet further said, 'The status of the Leader of Opposition is that of a cabinet minister, the ministers of the government were sitting in the first row, so these people with petty mentality do not even care about democracy and democratic traditions.'

She said that the statement of the Defence Ministry is exposing the government. Supriya said, 'The truth is that Modi and his ministers avoid eye contact with Rahul Gandhi, and become uncomfortable. Whether Rahul Gandhi sits in the fifth row or the fiftieth, he will remain the leader of the people. But when will you people stop doing such dirty acts?'
Earlier, Congress leader Vivek Tankha shared a picture of Rahul Gandhi sitting in the Independence Day program and posted on 'X', “Why is the Defence Ministry behaving so petty. Rahul Gandhi, the LOP Lok Sabha, seated on the 4th row. LOP is higher than any Cabinet minister. He is next to the Prime Minister of India in Lok Sabha. Rajnath Singh ji, u can’t allow MOD to politicise national functions !! Not expected fr u Rajnath ji.”
