Haryana Government Mandates 'Jai Hind' Greeting in Schools from Independence Day 2024
Students to Replace 'Good Morning' with 'Jai Hind' to Instil Patriotism and National Pride
India is going to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on 15 August 2024. Preparations are in full swing for this day across the country. Meanwhile, the Haryana government has made a big decision regarding Independence Day. The Nayab Singh Saini government of Haryana has said that students in state schools will now have to say ‘Jai Hind’ instead of ‘Good Morning’ in the morning. The implementation of this decision of the government will start on 15 August 2024.
The circular issued by the Haryana government states that from this Independence Day, ‘Jai Hind’ will be used in place of ‘Good Morning’ in all schools. The order of the Directorate of School Education states that this step aims to instil a deep sense of patriotism and national pride in the students. This order has been sent to all District Education Officers, District Primary Education Officers, District Block Education Officers, Principals, and Headmasters.
The Haryana government order states that the slogan ‘Jai Hind’ was given by Subhash Chandra Bose during India's freedom struggle. The armed forces of India also accepted ‘Jai Hind’ as a salute. The government has said that Jai Hind will now be used in schools instead of Good Morning. This will inspire students with the spirit of national unity every day. At the same time, respect for the rich history of the country can also be expressed.
The Haryana government has said that the ‘Jai Hind’ greeting will encourage students to appreciate the sacrifices made for the country's independence. The government has also said that the Jai Hind slogan transcends regional, linguistic and cultural differences and promotes unity among students from different backgrounds.
