Total AC Local Services Rise to 109, Ensuring Enhanced Comfort and Convenience
A good news for the passengers traveling in Mumbai. Western Railway has decided to start 13 new AC local train services in the Mumbai suburban section from 27 November 2024. With these new services, the total number of AC local trains will increase from 96 to 109. At the same time, the number of AC local trains will also increase from 52 to 65 on Saturdays and Sundays.
According to the press release issued by Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, this step has been taken because of the increasing popularity and demand of AC local trains among the passengers. Keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers and the increasing need for AC services, Western Railway has introduced 13 new AC local train services by replacing 12 non-AC car services. These new AC local trains will increase the convenience of travellers and more passengers will get better facilities.
Regular operation of these new AC local trains being introduced by Western Railway will start on November 27. The first AC local train will depart from Churchgate at 12:34 am, and thereafter all the new AC trains will run as per the timetable.
Out of these 13 new AC local trains, 6 will run in the up direction and 7 in the down direction. In the up direction, 2 services each will be introduced between Virar-Churchgate and Bhayander-Churchgate, while one service each will be introduced between Virar-Bandra and Bhayander-Andheri. In the down direction, two services will be introduced between Churchgate-Virar, one each between Churchgate-Bhayander, Andheri-Virar, Bandra-Bhayander, Mahalaxmi-Borivali and Borivali-Bhayander.
The total number of AC local services on Western Railway will increase to 109, but it is important to note that there will be no change in the total number of local services. Along with the 109 AC local train services on Western Railway, the total number of other local trains will remain at 1406.
Western Railway officials say that these new AC local trains will be able to better handle the heavy rush and increasing number of passengers, especially during the summer when the facility of air conditioning becomes more important.
