German Citizen Sentenced to 14 Months in Jail for Visa Fraud in Uttar Pradesh

Berlin Resident Found Guilty of Tampering with Visa Validity; Sonbhadra Court Issues Jail Term and Fine

A court in Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced a German citizen to a severe punishment. The German citizen has been found guilty of fraud and tampering with the validity date after the visa expired. The court has sentenced the German citizen to 14 months in jail and a fine of Rs 500. Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Yadav has given this verdict on Monday. Let us know the whole matter in detail.

Giving information about this case, senior prosecution officer Satish Verma said that in the year 2017, Sub Inspector Sitaram of the local intelligence unit had investigated Holger Eric Misch, a citizen of Berlin city of Germany. The investigation found that Holger's visa had already expired. The accused Holger had tampered with his visa and manipulated its validity date.

After investigating the case and finding visa fraud, the police registered a case against the accused German citizen Eric Misch under Sections 419, 420 (fraud) of the Indian Penal Code and 14A of the Foreigners Act. After investigating the case, a charge sheet was filed against the accused in the court.

The court, after hearing the arguments of both sides, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 14 months in jail and a fine of Rs 500. The court also said that if the fine is not paid, the German citizen will have to undergo an additional jail term of seven days. The court has also ordered to add the period already spent in jail by the accused to the sentence.
