After the demise of many great national heroes of India, the government has built their Samadhi Sthals to immortalize their memories. Samadhi Sthals of many great Indians, from Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, already exist in the country's capital New Delhi. These Samadhi Sthals have been built at the funeral site after their demise. Each Samadhi Sthal is named differently.

After the demise of the thirteenth Prime Minister of the country and renowned economist Dr. Manmohan Singh, the matter of Samadhi Sthal has come into discussion again. Congress has already requested to build a special Samadhi Sthal and memorial for the former Prime Minister. Raj Ghat- Mahatma Gandhi

The name of Mahatma Gandhi comes first in the Samadhi Sthal of great men because he is the Father of the Nation of India and this is called Rajghat. Originally it was named the historical ghat of Delhi. Then it was named Rajghat. It is located near the Yamuna River behind the Red Fort. Mahatma Gandhi was a frontline warrior of the Indian freedom struggle. His non-violence principle-based freedom movement gave a new form and manner to the Indian freedom struggle. He is known as the Father of the Indian Nation.

Shantivan- Jawaharlal Nehru

Shantivan is the mausoleum of the first Prime Minister of India, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. It is located on the banks of the Yamuna River. The first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, was cremated in 1964. This place is known for various tourist attractions. He was also a freedom fighter and leader who mainly led the Indian freedom struggle along with Mahatma Gandhi. He had a visionary approach to the freedom struggle as well as state administration and governance. He is known as the creator of modern India. Shanti Van was characterized in his memory and it is in Delhi.

Vijay Ghat- Lal Bahadur Shastri

Vijay Ghat houses the mausoleum of the former Prime Minister of India, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. It is a crossroads on the ring road of Delhi. Vijay means victory and his memorial was named after the victory he led India to against Pakistan in 1965. Lal Bahadur Shastri was elected to the legislature of the United Provinces in 1937 and 1946. Lal Bahadur Shastri has rendered his impeccable service in the Indian freedom struggle. He was the Prime Minister of India during the year 1964-66. He initiated the White Revolution during his tenure which increased the supply of milk production in the country.

Shakti Sthal- Indira Gandhi

The memorial of the famous Indian leader Indira Gandhi is called Shakti Sthal. Shakti Sthal means the land of power which matches the personality of the former Prime Minister. This memorial is located in the Rajghat complex and can be reached from the Rajghat Memorial. She was the first woman Prime Minister of India. She is admired for her determination and positive attitude towards a good country. It is located in the south-east direction of the Red Fort and on the banks of the Yamuna River. She is the first woman Prime Minister. During her reign, India faced a national emergency. Indira Gandhi has been criticized and praised in abundance. She is also called Priyadarshini. Her security guards assassinated her on 31 October 1984. Her memorial is named Shakti Sthal.

Kisan Ghat- Chaudhary Charan Singh

Kisan Ghat is a historical site in New Delhi, marking the cremation site of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the fifth Prime Minister of India, who was a prominent farmer leader known for his advocacy for the agricultural community. Chaudhary Charan Singh became the 5th Prime Minister of India and never faced the Parliament while being the Prime Minister. He was considered a leader of farmers.

Veer Bhumi- Rajiv Gandhi

Veer Bhumi is the resting place of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi, the sixth Prime Minister of India, was assassinated in a remote village near Madras. After his death, a memorial was built in his name. Rajiv Gandhi was the son of Indira Gandhi and was the youngest Prime Minister to assume office at the age of 40. He assumed this position after the assassination of his mother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Before assuming the post of Prime Minister, he served in the Indian Air Force.

Sadaiv Atal Smriti Sthal- Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Sadaiv Atal Smriti Sthal is the samadhi sthal of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This samadhi sthal is located in Shanti Van near Rajghat. Vajpayee was the tenth Prime Minister of India. His contribution to the development of the country was incomparable, and he was also a famous poet. Lines of his poems are inscribed on the walls of his samadhi sthal. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away on 16 August 2018.
