Renowned DRDO missile scientist Ram Narain Agarwal, who is known as the father of India's Agni missile, one of the world's most powerful missiles, passed away on Thursday. DRDO officials have said that Ram Narain Agarwal breathed his last in Hyderabad at the age of 84.
According to the DRDO official, DRDO scientist Ram Narain Agarwal played a very important role in making India a major missile power. Agarwal played an important role in the long-range ballistic missile program in India. He was the first program director of Agni missiles. Ram Narain Agarwal was also known as Agni Purush.
Senior serving and former scientists of DRDO have condoled the death of Ram Narain Agarwal. Former DRDO chief and scientist Dr. G Satish Reddy has said that India has lost a legend with the death of Ram Narain Agarwal. He said that Ram Narain Agarwal played an important role in the expansion of long-range missile manufacturing and launch facilities in the country.
The Agni missile manufactured by DRDO is considered the backbone of India's nuclear launch capability. So far, five variants of the Agni missile have been successfully tested. The purpose of starting the Agni program was to make India self-reliant in the field of missile technology. Agni 1 - 700-800 KM, Agni 2 - more than 2000 KM, Agni 3 - more than 2500 KM, Agni 4 - more than 3500 KM and Agni 5 - more than 5000 KM.
