Explosion on SN Banerjee Road in Kolkata Leaves One Injured, Police Investigate

A plastic bag blast injured a man on Saturday afternoon, prompting police and forensic teams to seal the area and investigate the cause. Traffic disruptions reported.

A massive explosion took place at SN Banerjee Road in Kolkata today. A person was injured in the blast. After receiving the information, a police team immediately reached the blast site and first admitted the injured to the hospital.

Initial investigation has revealed that the explosion took place in a plastic bag kept on the road. Police said that the incident took place at around 01.45 pm on Saturday. Now the police are investigating the matter.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team has been called to investigate the matter. The BDDS team is examining the bag and the surrounding things present at the spot. The police have sealed the blast site, due to which traffic is affected.

The person injured in the blast has been identified as Bapi Das. During police interrogation, the man said that he had no profession, he just roamed around. He had recently started living on the footpath of SN Banerjee Road. Kolkata Police has called a forensic team to investigate the blast.
