DGCA Directs Airlines to Increase Flights from Srinagar Following Pahalgam Attack

Air connectivity is being increased after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. So that the tourists and their families trapped there can be easily evacuated. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has written a letter to the airlines on Wednesday (23 April) morning. Instructions have been given to provide all possible facilities.

DGCA director wrote a letter

Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, in a letter to the airlines, has also asked to waive the cancellation and rescheduling charges. Said, help the tourists in every possible way in this time of crisis. Help them to get out of unexpected circumstances and challenges.

Concern increased due to Pahalgam terrorist incident

In fact, the Pahalgam terrorist incident has put people across the country in worry. Especially, those people whose family members are currently present in Jammu and Kashmir are waiting for them to return home. They have demanded the government to make necessary arrangements.

Instructions to airline companies

Taking this demand of the countrymen seriously, the Modi government has given instructions to increase the number of flights from Srinagar Airport to various cities of the country. The Aviation Department has instructed the airline companies to increase the number of flights immediately.

CM Omar Abdullah expressed concern

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shared the DGCA letter and wrote on X - It is heartbreaking to see the exodus of guests from the valley after the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam. We completely understand why people want to go. While DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation are working to arrange additional flights.

Single-way traffic started on the highway

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also given instructions to restore traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway (NH-44). Said, the road is unstable at many places. Therefore, we cannot allow completely free movement on it, but traffic has been restored from one direction on the highway.
