In a significant move, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued guidelines for implementing 10 bagless days in government and private schools in Delhi. In a circular, the department has directed all school heads to implement these guidelines for 10 bagless days in schools for students of classes six to eight. The initiative aims to make learning in school an experiential, joyful and stress-free experience for students, as outlined in the National Education Policy 2020.

The guidelines have been developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as per the recommendation of the National Education Policy 2020. The official circular states, "The activities should be carefully selected so that the resources available with the school are optimally utilised. Bagless activities organised during the execution of happiness curriculum or excursion trips, etc. may be included in the bagless days."

The guidelines state, "Under these guidelines, students can visit historical monuments, cultural sites, craft centres, tourist spots and many other places. They can meet artists and craftsmen, enhance their understanding of various concepts and traditions, and understand the importance of preserving heritage."
