Delhi Police Deploys 377 Teams to Enforce Complete Firecracker Ban on Diwali

Delhi Police is keeping a strict vigil against the burning of firecrackers in the city and is on high alert after intelligence inputs. An officer gave this information. A senior police officer said that a total of 377 teams of Delhi Police and government officials have been deployed to ensure a complete ban on the sale and purchase of firecrackers in the city on the occasion of Diwali. He said legal action will be taken against people caught burning firecrackers during the festival. Policemen in plain clothes will also be deployed to ensure that the ban on firecrackers is followed. On October 14, the Delhi government banned the production, storage, sale and use of firecrackers in the city, which will remain effective till January 1 next year. Meanwhile, Delhi is on high alert after an explosion in the wall of a CRPF school in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini. This blast took place on October 20. More police deployment at these places
The police officer said that police will be deployed in markets like Chandni Chowk, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, Azadpur and Ghazipur as such places are very crowded on Diwali. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-East) Apoorv Gupta said that security arrangements have been made especially in markets, malls, important establishments and crowded places.
Police deployment has been increased by doing intensive patrolling and setting up additional checkpoints. All the staff is on high alert to prevent any untoward incident. North District DCP Raja Banthia said, "All precautionary measures are being taken by the police staff to celebrate the festival smoothly." Police are also keeping an eye on the activities taking place in the border areas.
Another officer said, strict monitoring is being done at every railway and metro station and additional force has also been deployed to check any suspicious activities. The officer said that the patrolling team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have been instructed to immediately inform their seniors if they notice any suspicious activities.
He said, with the help of dog squads and bomb disposal teams, necessary checks are being done regularly in railway tracks and markets. The officer said, CCTV cameras are being constantly monitored by the team and PCR has been asked to be ready for any situation.
