Delhi Government Announces Rs 5000 Monthly Pension for Divyangjans
CM Atishi's Leadership Ushers in Historic Aid for Disabled Citizens; 60% Disability Criterion Set for Eligibility
Delhi government under the leadership of CM Atishi will now give a pension of Rs 5000 per month to Divyangjans. Delhi is the only state in the country to give this amount to Divyangjans every month. Delhi's Social Welfare Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj announced this.
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the Delhi government has decided to help Divyangjans as much as possible. People whose more than 60 percent disability is verified by the doctor can become beneficiaries for a pension of Rs 5000 per month. The cabinet has approved this decision.
Bhardwaj said that a medical certificate and UID card are made to get a pension. The government will start registration very soon, the concerned departments have been instructed to implement this scheme with immediate effect.
He said that the 2011 data of the World Health Organization shows that 15 percent of the world's population is facing some form of disability. According to the census, about 2,34,882 people are Divyang in Delhi. The 1,20,000 Divyangjans to whom the Delhi government is giving pensions have a disability of more than 42 percent.
The Social Welfare Minister said that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, it has been decided that there are many people who need special care, and the government should give them extra help.
