Cooperative Pavilion Inaugurated at Sonpur Mela: Showcasing Bihar's Cooperative Spirit

Highlighting Women's Empowerment, Local Crafts, and Agricultural Innovation through Cooperative Societies

The government in Bihar led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made a significant contribution to the development of the cooperative sector in the state. A beautiful form of it is reflected in the Sonpur Mela. Today on 18.11.2024, a Cooperative Pavilion was inaugurated by Dr. Prem Kumar, Hon'ble Minister, Cooperative Department at Sonpur Mela. In this pavilion of 4000 square feet, 12 stalls of various types of cooperative societies have been set up, in which the products of these societies have been kept for exhibition and sale. In these stalls, special patronage has been given to women's committees and Khadi / Weavers Committees. These committees have exhibited their special products, which are as follows: - 1. KGN Primary Dhurd Cooperative Society Ltd. has set up a stall of woolen clothes, shawls, sweaters, mufflers, cushions etc. 2. Rupganj Mahila Khadi Sahayog Samiti has organized an exhibition of Khadi Gamchha, Lungi, Chadar, Kurta, Pajama etc. 


3. Pragati Swavalambi Sahayog Samiti Ltd. has organized a stall of ingredients for preparing kheer without milk, curd without curd and various types of spices and flours.

4. Siddhi Jeevika Mahila Swavalambi Sahayog Samiti Ltd. has organized a stall of Bihar's famous Litti-Chokha, Masaledar Chana etc., delicious food items.

5. Kritpur Gramodyog Sahayog Samiti Ltd. has organized an exhibition of manufactured led purses, file bags, trolley bags etc. 6. Makhana and Makhana products are being sold by Shri Mithila Makhana Farmers Producer Organization Swavalambi Sahakari Samiti Ltd.

7. Mehsi Seep Udyog Sahakari Samiti Ltd. has set up a stall for selling bangles, bracelets and other jewellery made from seashells.

8. Mirzanagar Gramoday Sahakari Samiti Ltd., Vaishali is selling honey at cheap rates. 


Apart from this, stalls of Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing (Vegfed) and Bihar State Cooperative Bank Ltd. etc. have also been set up. Vegfed is providing the farmers with the necessary training and seeds and plants for vegetable production. Necessary information is being provided to the farmers through this stall and they are being motivated to take advantage of the cooperative schemes. Bihar State Cooperative Bank is promoting the schemes of cooperative bank among the people and motivating them to open maximum number of accounts. On this occasion, a street play was organized by the Cooperative Department, through which the importance and benefits of cooperation were shown to the people. There is a plan to organize such events in future also. Secretary, Cooperative Department told on this occasion that the purpose of inauguration of Cooperative Pavilion is to tell the importance and purpose of cooperation to the tourists coming to the fair area and efforts should be made to connect them with cooperation. The honorable Cooperative Minister said that through cooperation, the government is benefiting people with various schemes. Today, continuous efforts are being made to expand the area of cooperation and various types of cooperative societies are being encouraged and nurtured. He said that in the coming days, Bihar will also stand with the top states in the field of cooperation in the country. In this program, Honorable MLA of Sonpur Dr. Ramanand Prasad, Shri Dharmendra Singh, Secretary, Cooperative Department, Shri Prabhat Kumar, Additional Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Shri Kameshwar Thakur, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies and many departmental officials were present.
