Orders Extended Power Supply for Farmers, Diesel Subsidies Amidst Low Rainfall Concerns

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today reviewed the situation of possible flood and drought at 'Sankalp' located at 01 Anne Marg. In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Disaster Management Department Shri Pratyaya Amrit apprised the Chief Minister about the rainfall situation and gave detailed information regarding the preparations made by the Disaster Management Department. Secretary of Agriculture Department Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal gave detailed information about the planting of paddy and maize to the Chief Minister.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that in view of the situation of low rainfall in many districts, uninterrupted power supply should be ensured for 14 hours per day instead of 8 hours for farmers in rural areas from tomorrow. He directed that in view of the situation of low rainfall, diesel subsidy should be approved to willing farmers.

The Chief Minister directed the Water Resources Department to ensure the arrangement of delivering water to the last end of the canal in the interest of farmers so that farmers get convenience in irrigation. He said that keeping in mind the possibilities of both flood and drought, the officers of the concerned departments should keep monitoring continuously. He said that we have to keep an eye on everything and remain fully alert. If everyone works with alertness, people will get relief in case of disaster.

Water Resources Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Disaster Management Department Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary to the Agriculture Department Mr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Anupam Kumar and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
